Tom Kuhn is a highly respected CEO, founder, financial expert, and advisor who has spent the last three decades advancing the professional beauty and wellness industry—with a focus on salons and spas. As the Founder and CEO of Qnity, Tom has led transformative initiatives that help owners, leaders, and professionals in the beauty and wellness space build stronger businesses through financial literacy, visual learning tools, world-class education, and data-driven insights.
Qnity is best known for its clear, visual, and practical approach to business education, trusted by salons and spas of all sizes. Under Tom’s leadership, Qnity has impacted tens of thousands in the industry—from the classroom to the boardroom. Signature programs include the 2TO10 Project, now in its 15th year, which brings together an exclusive community of multi-location salon and spa leaders for benchmarking, strategy, and connection. Tom also co-founded Qnity for Schools, which partners with beauty schools to teach foundational money skills. The program’s MONEY EDU curriculum has increased financial confidence by 60% on average for over 50,000 students.
To tackle the industry’s ongoing 'data deficit', Tom launched the Qnity Institute, a research and data firm focused on raising economic intelligence across the beauty and wellness sector. As part of this, he initiated a partnership with top data scientists from the University of Texas, Austin, and he led the groundbreaking 2024 P&L study.
He’s conducted more than 300 financial assessments and played an advisory role to many of the industry’s top brands. Earlier in his career, Tom was a CPA with a specialization in small, creative businesses.
Tom’s efforts to elevate the industry have earned him widespread recognition, including being a finalist for Changemaker of the Year at the 2024 BeautyMatter NEXT Awards. His podcast, Lightbulb Moments, nominated for Podcast of the Year by Hairbrained, delivers quick, impactful episodes with real-life insights for salon and spa professionals seeking to grow, lead, and succeed.
